Courageous. Fireproof. Unconditional. Grace Unplugged. Now popular in both Christian and secular circles, these movies and their creators have raised the standard for filmmakers in the Christian film industry. But these movies were not made overnight or the first projects of their creators. Like the great filmmakers before them, they started small: weaving stories and worlds together as children, playing with their first camera, and making their first short film. Through trial and error, encouragement and criticism, they became the filmmakers they are today.

 

 

As I write, young people across Mississippi are starting their journey: filming, editing, and producing films to enter in this year’s MHEA Film Festival. A new generation of filmmakers is trying to make their way to the big screen, and the 2014 MHEA Film Festival is an opportunity for you to encourage them along their journey. If you decide to become a sponsor, you will be helping to provide operating capital, cash prizes for the winners, and helpful feedback from an experienced panel of judges.
