SPRING CONFERENCE UPDATE

MHEA 2013 Spring Conference attendees,

Jeff and Lisa Barber, who serve on our board and always do a wonderful job with the “beginning home education” workshop at our conferences, will be unable to make it this year due to Jeff’s severe back pain. Also, Phillip Telfer will not be able to speak on Friday because he will be attending the funeral of his father-in-law. Please pray for both of these men and their families as they deal with these trials.

We will play the audio of Jeff and Lisa’s workshop during the scheduled time in addition to showing their presentation slides. Someone will be available during this time to answer questions as well.

Phillip was already scheduled to show his documentary “Captivated” during the 3:00pm slot on Friday, so we will have someone introduce the film and show it as scheduled. Phillip plans to be with us on Saturday to speak at the scheduled times, though his workshop topics may vary from the printed program.

UPDATE #2

To all MHEA 2013 Spring Conference attendees,

Here are TWO bits of important, last-minute information for those who plan to stay through Sunday.

1. After our worship service at Taylor Hall on Sunday morning, May 19th, the Thompson family has graciously invited everyone to their house for lunch (bring your own picnic lunch or fast food), outdoor fun (like volleyball), and fellowship.

This will be an outside event, so plan to dress comfortably. If it RAINS, we will CANCEL – see directions from Starkville below.

Directions: Directions: If you are coming from Starkville, drive West on Highway 82 towards Eupora. Do NOT turn on Hwy 25, but about 4 miles after you pass under the Hwy 25 turnoff, you will see a huge brown sign saying Oktibbeha County Lake to the right. Turn right on that road (County Lake Road) and go exactly 3.1 miles. Our driveway is on the left and you will see our mailbox that looks like a horse on the right.

2. For those planning to stay in the dorms Saturday night, May 18th, you need to be aware that there will be a planned power outage beginning at 12:01am on the 19th. The outage is scheduled to last only 5 hours, so it should be back on in plenty of time for you to get ready for our service at 10am. Here is part of the press release.

STARKVILLE, Miss.–Most of the Starkville campus of Mississippi State University will be impacted by two power outages planned by the university’s public utility providers.

The Starkville Electric Department, in conjunction with the Tennessee Valley Authority, has announced plans for two city-wide power outages on Sunday [May 19] and June 23. The planned outages will begin at 12:01 a.m. on each of the dates, and each outage is expected to last about five hours, according to SED general manager Terry N. Kemp in a recent letter to customers.

“These outages are necessary because TVA is nearing completion of a major transmission project that will have positive impacts on both our city and the surrounding area,” Kemp said in the letter. “The final stages of this $20 million project will be connection to the Starkville Electric primary substation.”

Bobby Moore Memorial
